FINANCIAL STATUS
The main sources of income are Zakat, Fitra, Sadqa, General Donations and Qurbani Skin collections during
the holy month of Ramazan Sharif festivals like Idul Fitre and Iduzzoha respectively.
Grants from the Government of West Bengal through the Directorate of Social Welfare and the Directorate
of Mass Education (Social Welfare) for 100 orphan children each from the two Directorates, also form
an important source of income.
However by the grace of Allah Taala The Calcutta Muslim Orphanage's financial position is satisfactory
at present. But since we had plans to enhance the capacity of intake of orphan children we have extended
and developed the orphanage building and construction/alteration was done in the existing structure
in such a way that we have been able to carve out about 8000 sq.ft. more space under the supervision
of our honorary Civil Engineer. Now the class rooms have become spacious. A large reading room has been
added. More bath rooms have been built in every floor. Primary Health Centre has been enlarged. Besides
a Common Room we now have a large open terrace where the children can play indoor games. We have extended
and developed the Orphanage. The Abul Hasan Khan Computer Training Centre in our Girls' Section is being
used by our A.K. Fazlul Haque Girls' H.S. School. We expect to reopen for outsiders, too, very shortly.
We receive some rental income from Orphanage properties. All donations to CMO are exempted under Income
Tax Act 1961 under 80-G.
